John Lordan has been a saddler in Dubbo in regional NSW for over 35 years and is regarded as one of Australia’s true Master Saddlers. John has a strong eye for detail and ensures every saddle is completed to the satisfaction of the rider. Whether campdraft or polocrosse is your sport, or you follow the Australian Stock Horse season, John will ensure your saddle is suited to the horse and the rider.

John is a specialised craftsman with his interest in saddle making starting when his was just a young boy. Many hours of his childhood were spent in a blazing hot shed near Hungerford, on the property next door to his family home where Ross Wallace, a great family friend and proficient saddler, laid the ground work for what would later become his own profession. John has spent a lifetime studying saddles made in the early days and came to the conclusion that the recipe for a great saddle is in the tree. John makes the entire saddle by hand, including the tree, and strives to continue to better his designs to ensure comfort and durability is achieved for both the horse and rider. With over 700 saddles now under his belt, John is regarded by both his peers and clients as one of Australia's best saddle makers, specialising in the Australian Stock saddle and fender saddles. John's skills are priceless and dedication to his work is endless.

John won the prestigious 'Best Australian Stock Saddle' at the Sydney Royal Easter Show in 2011 with a saddle made for his eldest daughter. The saddle featured filligary staple plates engraved with his daughter's initials. It is sure to be a prized possession in the Lordan family for years to come.

In addition to saddles, John has a flare for bridle work and was humbled when asked to assist with the build of one of the Queen's Coaches, making the leather suspension belts. The coach was designed and built in Australia and now resides at Buckingham Palace in London.
